Magnetic Field Shielding for Electrical Panels & Low-Frequency Sources

The MagInduct AF2 Magnetic Shielding System is a flexible metal shielding material designed to reduce low-frequency magnetic fields from electrical panels, breaker panels, transformers, high-voltage power lines, wiring, and other electrical equipment.

AF2 is particularly suited for 50/60 Hz magnetic field shielding applications, including residential and commercial electrical panels. Its flexible construction allows the material to be incorporated into walls and building assemblies while maintaining its shielding properties when bent or formed.

In addition to magnetic shielding, AF2 provides RF shielding, corrosion resistance, and fire-resistant properties for demanding residential, commercial, and industrial installations.

Electrical Panel Shielding

Magnetic fields from an electrical panel can extend beyond the physical dimensions of the panel itself. For a conservative installation, we recommend extending AF2 approximately 3 feet beyond the magnetic-field source in each direction, where practical.

Because every electrical installation is different, we recommend measuring the magnetic field around the panel before determining the final shielding area. Factors such as field strength, distance, panel configuration, electrical load, surrounding wiring, and construction can affect the amount of material required and the resulting attenuation.

Installation Recommendation

For electrical panel applications, extend the shielding approximately 3 ft in each direction beyond the source where practical. Magnetic-field measurements should be taken before installation to identify the affected area and after installation to verify the achieved reduction.
